If your numbers are high enough you will repeat this test 48 hours later. Your doctor will be looking for at least 66% increase in numbers before officially declaring you pregnant. When the HCG levels reach a certain point, you will go in for an ultrasound to confirm heartbeat. This is usually 5-7 weeks gestation. You will have a repeated ultrasound for the first 8-10 weeks (about every 10-14 days) with the clinic. Each attorney has their own way of preparing that. The attorney will have a worksheet that both the surrogate/partner and IP have to fill out. Once those are turned in to the lawyer, they can then file for the order. In most cases a pre-birth order is signed and the surrogate will take this with her to the hospital when the baby is delivered. In some cases the judge does not get it signed in time and then a post birth order is needed. Either way the hospital will know who the parents are and will help take care of everything. They will contact you to make an appointment for your medical screening. This in many cases is a one day trip and is best if your partner (if any) can attend with you. The fertility clinic will contact you and set a transfer date. You can expect 3 to 6 appointments before transfer and about 4 to 6 appointments after transfer before being released to your own OB. You will be on a handful of different medications and instructions will be explained to you. Every clinic uses their own medication protocol so no protocol is the same. Two of the medications are the same and those are estrogen and progesterone. The amounts will be different per carrier as directed by the doctors.
